Die Casting: Ancillary Products
When we say that Chem-Trend is committed to making you produce
better parts more efficiently, we don't limit our expertise to a
few areas of your production process. We apply our resources to
develop and manufacture process chemicals that help keep your machines
running optimally and your parts pristine from formation to shipping.
Chem-Trend
offers the following ancillary products:
Quench Compounds
Chem-Trend's quench compounds are formulated to provide
the optimum combination of corrosion protection and ease of cleaning
for aluminum and zinc die castings. The products are specially formulated
with a combination of ingredients to leave a protective film left
on the part that will not normally alter a cast finish, and will
prevent corrosion and black watermarks. The products are water dilutable.
Castings can be easily cleaned in a mild alkaline cleaner.
Pin Lubricants
Chem-Trend's pin lubricants are heavy-duty
lubricants developed to provide maximum lubrication on all sliding
and moving parts of a die block and within the die cavity. In addition
to functioning as an ejector pin and sliding core lubricant, the
pin lubricants are excellent plunger lubricants and provide solder
prevention in both high-pressure and low-pressure metal casting.
The pin lubricants have a viscous and tenacious nature. If lower
viscosity is desirable, dilutions are possible by diluting with
selected diluents.
Start-Up Oils
Chem-Trend's start-up oil is a perfectly balanced
mixture of lubricity and anti-solder designed to aid in the production
of aluminum and zinc die castings. The start-up oil promotes good
release and anti-solder, along with good casting finish, good lubrication
of ejector pins and sliding cores, and no parting line build-up.
The start-up oil is intended to be used for cold die start-up with
a brush spray on application.
Anti-Solder Wax
Chem-Trend's anti-solder wax is a uniquely effective
combination of special purpose chemicals. Its use is twofold: to
remove solder accumulations from aluminum die cast dies, and to
provide a superior pre-coat conditioner for new dies or repaired
dies. In combination with the die lubricant, anti-solder wax will
improve your casting productivity by effectively reducing scrap
caused by solder problems.
Ladle Coat
Chem-Trend's impact on the die casting industry can be felt
upstream of the actual casting process with the highly-effective
Wolfrakote® ladle coats. Chem-Trend's ladle
coat is available in water free and water-based formulations.
The protective coating is developed with a high-temperature carrier
base to protect ladles and casting equipment from molten aluminum.
The ladle coat effectively prevents degradation of the steel surface.
Chem-Trend's water-free ladle coats are designed to be used on-line
without the need for drying.
Chem-Trend's
ladle coats can:
 |
Protect
gray cast iron and steel ladles |
 |
Protect
all equipment contacting the melt against wear |
 |
Protect
discharge plugs in melting furnaces |
 |
Protect
runners in aluminum and zinc castings |
Metal/Mold
Protector
Chem-Trend's metal/mold protector products
are unique compounds formulated to prevent rust. These products
will provide protection indoors for up to five years or outdoors
for up to one year. Because of their outstanding ability to displace
moisture, these metal/mold protectors can be sprayed on wet metal
without preliminary drying. The film left on metal is self-healing,
will neutralize fingerprints and will not lose its effectiveness
when touched. These products help remove rust and are compatible
with lubricating oils and greases. Chem-Trend's metal/mold
protectors prevent formation of rust on molding dies. Removing the
film before using the dies isn't necessary. These metal protectors
can also be used to help condition injection molding dies.
Trim-Lube
Chem-Trend's trim lubes are formulated to provide
the optimum combination of corrosion protection and lubrication
for zinc and aluminum die castings. This product is an emulsion
of film formers, corrosion inhibitors, bactericides and wetting
agents. The protective film left on the trim die will normally not
alter a cast finish and will prevent corrosion of the die steel
and machinery. Castings can be easily cleaned in a mild alkaline
cleaner.
